Sweethope Lough provides very good access for those anglers with disabilities.
The carpark is clear and is located almost at the edge of the lake. Fly fishing from specially constructed lakeside platforms, ensure that absolutely everyone is in with a chance of hooking one of the huge fish Sweethope has become famous for.
Since 1999 Lord Devonport has donated the use of the fishery Sweethope Loughs to hold the Viscount Devonport Sweethope Challenge which is an annual FREE event for disabled anglers. Since it began the number of entrants has increased each year, and it is now the largest event of its type held in the country with over 140 entrants.
Prizes and support are donated by local businesses, and staff and friends of the fishery arrange a buffet for the competitors. The age of competitors range is from youngsters to pensioners.
